A couple of days ago i got to interview two music-legends – well, actually it was more like one pop-star plus one music-legend. Damon ‘Blur’ Albarn and Paul ‘the Clash’ Simonon have just released a pretty good album under the moniker ‘The Good, the Bad and the Queen’ (with the help of Tony ‘Afrobeat’ Allen and some other people). Far from being the arrogant git he is supposed to be in interviews Mr. Albarn turned out quite a nice person – and rockstar turned painter (& back) Paul Simonon was sweet as well. We talked about their new album, London and surveillance cameras, life as a former punkrock-superstar and the dynamics and hype-cycles of the British music industry. btw: Each of the two sported remarkable tooth-gaps. Coincidence – or a new trend amongst London’s pop-aristocracy?? Watch the interview & concert sometime in April on Tracks/arte.
