Every now & then i help out some visually inclined friends film the live-shows at Yellow Lounge. This was only meant to be screened for the guests at the back of a sold-out Cookies, but luckily i stuck in a tape & let it roll.
Mischa Maisky is one of the best cellists in the world and was a pupil of Rostropivitch and Piatigorsky. Here he does a cello version of ‘Ritual Fire Dance’, an excerpt of Manuel de Falla’s ballet ‘El amor brujo‘. I didn’t know you could play a cello that way before i saw Maisky. Love it every time!
And Bela Bartok’s ‘Romanian Folk Dances’ sound incredible on Maisky’s cello.
