Modeselektor have been around for a couple of years now, but with every new release they manage to be more daring, not only musically (check out the hilarious/hideous cover of ‘Happy Birthday’...) The two Berliners have a somewhat twisted sense of humor and are a constant breath of fresh air to Berlin’s nerdy & sometimes stuck-up electronica scene.
I directed this portrait for Tracks (arte) in the autumn of 2007, just as their album ‘Happy Birthday’ had been released. Gernot & Szary were in the middle of a quite demanding 6-week world tour at the time, one had just had a baby, the other one had one on the way – but still they were funny as ever and as relaxed as can be. Gotta love Modeselektor!
