Verdi, the trade-union for workers in public services in Germany, have just entered talks with the government for a 8%-payrise. This demand isn’t very likely to be met so Verdi also launched a media-campaign and the weekly videocast STREIK.TV to illustrate why the payrise is much needed.
I started contributing to STREIK.TV this week, with a short portrait of an employee of the local waterworks who checks the Berlin sewer system for cracks & other damage. Next week’s show will include a report on a photo-shoot for Verdi’s campaign ‘Genug Gespart’ – shot aboard the Mellum, a boat of the german coast guard patrolling the North Sea.
